How it works

As a oneworld member, AAdvantage lets you earn and redeem across dozens of airlines. In Brazil, the main earning route is the co-branded Santander AAdvantage card, plus the shopping portal, hotels and buying miles. Miles expire after 24 months of inactivity — any earning or redemption renews the deadline.

How to accumulate

  • Flying American and oneworld partners (and GOL).
  • With the Santander AAdvantage card, the co-branded route available in Brazil.
  • At the AAdvantage eShopping portal and hotel/car-rental partners.
  • Buying miles on promotion (assess it with the Miles Purchase Simulator).

How to redeem

  • Flights on American and oneworld partners (British Airways, Iberia, Qatar, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Finnair and others).
  • Flights on direct partners like Alaska, JetBlue and Etihad.
  • Cabin upgrades and premium fares.
  • Availability and mileage cost vary by route and airline — check the official site.
